Once you've taken this "mini vacation" course, you’ll do everything in your power to relieve yourself of the debilatating effects of stress.

The debilitating effects of stress can be deadly in which the most common sources of stress are work, relationships, and money.  Note that:

• Studies suggest that the inability to adapt to stress is associated with the onset of depression or anxiety. In one study, two thirds of subjects who experienced a stressful situation had nearly six times the risk of developing depression within a month.

• Heart Disease incidents of acute stress have been associated with a higher risk for serious cardiac events such as abnormal heart rhythms, heart attacks, and even death.

• Stress causes blood to become stickier, increasing the likelihood of an artery clogging blood clot

• In women, chronic stress may reduce estrogen levels, which are important for cardiac health.

Some other negative effects of stress include:

• Immune disorders
• Gastrointestinal problems
• Susceptibility to infections
• Eating Problems
• Diabetes
• Pain – muscular and joint
• Headaches
• Sleep Disturbances
• Sexual and reproduction dysfunction
• Problems with memory, concentration, and learning

Further, according to various studies, individuals at high risk for stress-related disorders include:

• Women (in general) – women may be at higher risk than men from stress-related chest pain, although men’s hearts may be more vulnerable to adverse effects.

• Working mothers – may have “domino” and harmful effect on children

• Divorced or widowed individuals (number of studies indicate that unmarried people don't live as long as married couples)

• Unemployed persons

• Isolated individuals

• People that are the target of racial or sexual discrimination

• Persons without health insurance

• Persons that live in cities
